Lunesta Addiction

Published by John Gillen | Last updated: 14th September 2022

First appearing in general use in 2004, Lunesta is a comparatively new drug that is used to control sleeping disorders such as insomnia. Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, the company that manufactures Lunesta, describe the drug as “the number one branded prescribed sleep aid.”

Lunesta is a sleeping pill or sedative, and it is categorised as a “hypnotic” drug. It’s considered to be a nervous system depressant owing to how it works – it slows the nervous system down.

Lunesta may also be known as “eszopiclone” or “zombie pills.” Lunesta is so addictive, a user can develop a powerful dependency to the drug in as little as 14 days of continual use. When Lunesta addiction occurs, it will be a physical as well as psychological dependency.

Is Lunesta addictive?

Over time, Lunesta users will develop a tolerance which means that increased amounts of the drug are required for the user to achieve the high that they seek.

There are some unwanted side effects that will manifest themselves with prolonged Lunesta use, such as drowsiness, hallucinations, high blood pressure, sweating and cramps. Once ingested and in the bloodstream, Lunesta makes its way to sensors in the brain. Here, a neurotransmitter known as GABA is released that helps to make users feel relaxed.

Do you use Lunesta? Are you concerned that you’re developing an addiction, or are already struggling to control the amount of Lunesta that you take? If so, or you are searching for Lunesta info, why not call Cassiobury Court?

We can offer you a no-obligation consultation over the telephone, so if you have any questions about Lunesta rehab or Lunesta recovery, give us a call today on 01923 369161 or text HELP to 83222 and we can help to give you the information you require.

Lunesta rehab

Once you reach out to Cassiobury Court for help, we will be able to admit you without delay. There is no wait for our services. Our admissions team will make arrangements for you to check in at our rehab clinic as soon as practical so that we might begin your Lunesta addiction treatment.

We will give you a tour of the facility and introduce you to keyworkers before you are examined by one of our doctors. This thorough assessment of your physical and mental health will allow us to build a picture of your current levels of Lunesta addiction.

We will recommend a 28-day stay in our residential rehab. This may seem like a large chunk of time to be away from your everyday life but it will give you the maximum opportunity to remove yourself from the negative influences that may have caused you to become addicted to Lunesta in the first place. You will also be surrounded by experienced 24-hour care that can safely monitor your recovery.

Lunesta detox

Undergoing detoxification to remove yourself from the influence of Lunesta is hard. Lunesta withdrawal can bring about some unpleasant withdrawal symptoms when users stop taking the drug. It is therefore not advisable to try and detox from Lunesta without medical assistance.

Cassiobury Court offers a medically assisted drug detox that allows you to have constant supervision around the clock from our expert medical team. Not only do our medical team monitor your progress and ensure your safety, but they can also issue you with prescription medication in order to alleviate any discomfort if required.

Our medical staff may offer medication such as chlordiazepoxide or diazepam in order to counter the Lunesta withdrawal symptoms that a user might experience, and flumazenil may be offered to those suffering from a chronic Lunesta addiction.

Generally, the approach will be to gradually decrease the amount of Lunesta that a user has access to and taper it away over time. This is a better approach than a “cold turkey” detox as withdrawal symptoms may cause complications.

Everybody is affected differently by Lunesta withdrawal symptoms, but the most common symptoms are anxiety, vomiting and nausea and mood swings.

When the user stops taking the drug, their brain will enter a hyperactive state and seizures may occur. Addicts who took Lunesta initially to combat insomnia may experience something known as “rebound insomnia.”

Lunesta recovery

It generally takes between eight to ten days for Lunesta withdrawal symptoms to subside. Once their condition has stabilised, clients attend therapy sessions. These sessions take place on a one to one and a group basis with an experienced therapist moderating and observing at all times.

The goal of these sessions is to identify and treat the psychological aspects of a Lunesta addiction. These sessions aim to reduce the risk of a future relapse upon you leaving the care of Cassiobury Court.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is used to help provide an understanding to our clients about the link between their emotions and thoughts that promote addictive behaviour.

Group therapy also allows users to create a network of support after they leave our care and to share experiences with fellow recovering addicts.

Upon the conclusion of your therapies, you will be provided with an aftercare plan to help you adjust to your life outside of Cassiobury Court. We will put you in touch with your local SMART Recovery and Narcotics Anonymous groups as well as invite you for regular aftercare sessions and provide access to a 24-hour helpline if you are experiencing difficulties with your abstinence from Lunesta.

We understand that it is difficult to ask for help. You may even be researching information about Lunesta rehab and Lunesta detox in the United Kingdom on behalf of a friend or loved one. Cassiobury Court is an experienced provider of Lunesta and many other drug rehabs and we are here to answer any questions that you might have.

All you need to do is get in touch with us, and we will do the rest to give you a fresh start in life.

Please contact us without delay on 01923 369161 or text HELP to 83222, or by filling in the online enquiry form on this webpage and we can begin to help straight away. It could well be the most important phone call that you ever make.
