Individual Therapy at Cassiobury Court
Upon the successful completion of the initial detoxification program patients progress to the psychological recovery phase. A staple therapy is known as individual therapy. This form of therapy allows our therapists and counsellors to work one-on-one with the patient and to cover the underlying psychological conditioning, which the addictive behaviour can be attributed to. Individual therapy allows our patients an intense and focused platform upon which to uncover deep-seated and often unconscious mental processes, which have contributed to their destructive alcohol and/or drug abuse. Individual therapy is conducted on a one-to-one basis with a qualified counsellor, psychologist or psychiatrist.
Uncovering the deep psychological drives of addiction
Individual therapy sessions are far more focused and intense than ‘group therapy’. Group therapy is conducted in a group setting rather than on a ‘one-to-one’ basis. Individual therapy by its nature means the specific needs of the individual patient will be the primary focus throughout. Individual therapy works in tandem with group therapy in ensuring positive mindset shifts occur so that abstinence-based recovery is possible.
Individual therapy allows patients to dive deep into their innermost memories, which they may feel uncomfortable doing so in group therapy sessions. During individual therapy, the therapist or counsellor will take a more active role than is the case with group therapy sessions alone.
